Designer’s touch in Amberwood.

When an interior designer is the owner, you know the pride of workmanship in a renovation is going to show through. Such is the case with 35 Pine Bluff Trail in Amberwood Village.Outside, the beautiful existing red brick, which was in excellent condition, has been complemented by black trim and gutters (and a new charcoal-coloured roof) for a classy update that is both fresh and grounded.

The transformation this circa 1985 home has seen in the past year is tremendous! Simply put, the owners have breathed new life into this suburban home, giving it an urban vibe while maintaining the best of its original features.

The kitchen has been completely reimagined. The owners opened up the space for a better connection to the family room and breakfast nook and reconfigured it for the needs of a modern family.

The black accents are carried inside for continuity, adding a modern and, at the same time, a timeless feel to the new mullioned windows, custom fixtures, kitchen counters and hardware. It’s an elevated look that works wonderfully.

Bathrooms have similarly been updated, getting a contemporary overhaul to create spaces that are spa-like and welcoming. The powder room, for instance, features Terrazzo floor tile that continues four feet up the wall where it meets wood planks to add warmth, and the master ensuite offers Brazilian slate and a luxurious Parisian freestanding tub.“These bathrooms have been optimally designed for a relaxing and personal experience,” the owners say.

Other features include hardwood done in a herringbone pattern, a completely refinished basement, built-in millwork in the laundry room and glass panels on the back deck railing.

Located in popular Stittsville, Amberwood is a much-desired neighbourhood of mature trees, large lots and quiet streets. Yet it’s close to golfing, the Cardel rec centre, shopping and dining on both Stittsville Main and Hazeldean Road, schools, services, the Trans Canada Trail and so much more. This home benefits from the extra elbow room that being a corner lot allows, as well as supportive neighbours.

“We immediately bonded with the community around us and got nothing but support and encouragement for the quality of the work we were doing,” the owners say.
